The Ventura Film Festival functions as a multi-genre global film festival that raises awareness for conservation issues such as woodland and marine conservation and recovery, through a yearly film festival and related events. The Ventura Film Festival began in 2004 and has exhibited numerous cinematic works, generally exceeding 200 films per summer season, and has generated excitement within the global cinema community. Over the years, the festival has evolved into a major cultural celebration that assembles filmmakers, environmental advocates, and audiences from across the globe.

Distinguished events have encompassed showcasing renowned filmmaker Dylan O'Neil, the first ever world champion surfers Peter "PT" Townend along with Ian Cairns, quadruple world champion Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/MMA athlete martial arts icon Fabio Leopoldo, and the half-century commemoration of West Side Story, which click here involved hosting the entire award-winning cast of West Side Story, including Oscar recipient/Golden Globe winner George Chakiris together with Golden Globe recipient/Oscar nominee Russ Tamblyn. The founder and executive director of the Ventura Film Festival was privileged to participate, together with many of Hollywood's biggest stars, in the 50th Anniversary of West Side Story and Hollywood's legendary footprint/handprint ceremony for Academy Award champions Rita Moreno, George Chakiris, along with Golden Globe champion Russ Tamblyn at the famous Chinese Theater in Hollywood. This event also doubled as the official BluRay launch by Fox and MGM of the timeless West Side Story, which is generally recognized by critics and fans as the most exceptional musical of all time.
